ODPL Basics

League Structure and Overview

At its core, the ODPL comprises of a promotion/relegation league system.

There are up to 256 players who compete every season fighting their way up and down the league pyramid. Each league comprises of up to 16 players who play each other each once per season. After the season, the top players get promoted to the next level up, while the bottom players are relegated into the divisions below.

The number of leagues in each division also change as you move up and down the ladder. Some divisions (1 through 4) have only one league and some have as many as four leagues. To make it to the next level above yours, you do not have to get promoted from every league in your current level, each league has teams that move up to the higher division.

Alongside the league in each season are divisional cups played between the players nearest to you in the league pyramid. There are four seperate division cups, so you’ll always be competing against players of a similar skill level.

League Gameplay

Every league match is played either as a best-of-12 or best-of-10 leg contest. Every game is standard in, double out, 501. Best-of-12 is played in D5 and above, while D6 and below play best-of-10.

Each match is played on DartCounter and it is up to you to organise games with your opponent(s) every week. You can play games any time that suits both you and your opponent(s), just agree to a time and get throwing!

We have some basic rules that all players must adhere to, such as having a camera on and general good behavioural clauses but if you have any issues please reach out to your division captain or an admin and we will sort it out.

OTHER COMPETITIONS

We also run optional competitions and cups on the side to league play. Find out more about them at Competition Formats.
